Job Role and Responsibilities

The role of Senior Commercial Refrigeration Service Engineer requires proficient hands-on experience in diagnosing, servicing, repairing, commissioning, and maintaining commercial refrigeration systems. The candidate will handle complex mechanical and electrical troubles, system dismantling, relocation, reinstallation, and commissioning of refrigeration equipment. Preparing detailed technical reports and offering high-quality, safe solutions is essential.

Moreover, the candidate should possess strong knowledge of commercial kitchen exhaust and ventilation systems, including airflow calculations (CFM), exhaust fan selection, make-up air systems, and resolving smoke, heat, and odor extraction challenges.

Scope of Work

• Maintain, install, commission, troubleshoot, and provide technical assistance for a broad range of commercial refrigeration equipment, including cold rooms, freezer rooms, walk-in coolers and freezers, commercial refrigerators and freezers, display chillers, refrigerated counters, upright and under-counter refrigerators, condensing units, evaporators, remote refrigeration units, and ice machines.
• Support commercial kitchen ventilation systems such as kitchen exhaust systems, fresh air and make-up air systems, exhaust and fresh air fans, and kitchen hood ventilation setups.

Main Duties

• Identify electrical, mechanical, and electronic failures.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Install and commission refrigeration systems.
• Manage dismantling, relocating, and reinstalling refrigeration equipment.
• Detect and fix refrigerant leaks.
• Recover and recharge refrigerants aligned with industry standards.
• Replace compressors, evaporators, condensing units, and related components.
• Perform copper brazing and modify refrigeration piping.
• Execute nitrogen pressure tests and system vacuuming before system commissioning.
• Inspect electrical control panels and refrigeration circuits.
• Calibrate electronic controllers and thermostats.
• Test equipment performance post-maintenance and installation.
• Create professional technical service reports.
• Assess spare parts requirements and offer technical advice.
• Comply with safety and quality protocols.
• Deliver professional technical support to clients.

Educational and Professional Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines.
• At least 8 years of hands-on experience with commercial refrigeration systems.
• Proven expertise in troubleshooting, repairing, dismantling, relocating, and recommissioning refrigeration equipment.
• Skillful in copper brazing techniques.
• Experienced in nitrogen pressure testing and system vacuum procedures.
• Deep understanding of refrigeration cycles and refrigerants.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and refrigeration control diagrams.
• Competent in using diagnostic and testing tools specific to refrigeration.
• Proficient in producing detailed technical reports.
• Good command of English communication.
• Strong analytical and customer service abilities.

Additional Preferred Technical Expertise

• Knowledge of cooling load and airflow (CFM) calculations.
• Experience troubleshooting kitchen exhaust and ventilation systems.
• Understanding of exhaust and make-up air fan selection and static pressure assessments.
• Skills in refrigeration system component selection including compressors, evaporators, condensing units, and expansion valves.
• Ability to size refrigeration piping and calculate refrigerant charges.
