Join Mott MacDonald, a global employee-owned consultancy delivering engineering, management, and development services. Our Wellington Civil & Water team is expanding and offers a chance to work on vital infrastructure projects benefiting communities across the lower North Island of New Zealand.
Your Role
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will lead the planning, design, and execution of water and civil infrastructure projects. You will collaborate closely with clients, contractors, and interdisciplinary teams, providing mentorship to junior engineers while enhancing your technical and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare conceptual and detailed engineering designs for water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
- Produce technical and commercial documents, including drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Assist in construction oversight, contract management, and on-site engagement.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams across New Zealand and the broader Mott MacDonald network.
- Develop solid client relationships and actively participate in project planning and delivery.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to graduate and intermediate engineers.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience with water, wastewater, and/or stormwater infrastructure projects.
- Strong civil and hydraulic design abilities, especially pipeline systems.
- Experience in multidisciplinary consulting environments.
- Confident interacting with clients, stakeholders, and project partners.
- A cooperative approach and enthusiasm for mentoring others.
- Progress towards or possession of Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status is advantageous.
