Overview
This is a hands-on security and access control role based in Christchurch, supporting both homes and businesses. The position suits someone who enjoys practical fieldwork, high-quality system work, and a team-focused environment where people and culture matter.
The employer is a well-regarded security business in Canterbury with a reputation for dependable service, innovation, and a strong team atmosphere. The role covers installation, programming, servicing, fault diagnosis, and customer handover across modern security systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and set up mobile apps for modern wireless alarm systems, with emphasis on Ajax hubs, detectors, and related integrations.
- Carry out installation, programming, and commissioning of SALTO access control equipment.
- Configure and support ICT Protégé GX and WX systems.
- Integrate alarm and access control solutions with IP CCTV and IP intercom systems.
- Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, and system upgrades.
- Provide clear customer training and a professional handover after installation or servicing.
What the Role Requires
- At least 5 years of experience in the electronic security sector, including practical work with SALTO and ICT Protégé systems.
- Solid IT networking knowledge, particularly around IP networking and VLANs.
- A valid Ministry of Justice Private Security Personnel Badge and Certificate of Approval is preferred/required.
- NZ National Certificate in Electronic Security.
- Current Site Safe Passport.
- EWP certification for work at height.
- Strong communication skills with customers, a neat professional presentation, an energetic approach, and the ability to work well alone or as part of a team.
