Overview
The Fountain Group is looking for a Scientist I to join a well-known client in Pleasanton, CA, for a one-year onsite contract role. This position involves contributing to preclinical molecular investigations in infectious disease and genomics diagnostics.
Job Responsibilities
The role requires hands-on work in a wet lab, including the design, execution, and analysis of molecular biology experiments. The candidate will manage biological sample processing, analyze experimental outcomes, and maintain thorough records within electronic laboratory notebooks. Responsibilities also include supporting assay development aimed at detecting pathogens and collaborating on molecular research projects utilizing nucleic acid technologies.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or closely related fields.
- Generally 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in an industry laboratory environment.
- Proficiency with molecular biology bench techniques including sample handling, in vitro transcription, nucleic acid purification, PCR variants (standard, quantitative, and digital), gel electrophoresis, and qPCR assay design specifically for pathogen detection.
- Experience documenting experiments and data in electronic laboratory notebooks.
- Skills in experimental design and analysis of molecular data.
- Preferred experience includes Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), work with BSL-2 bacteria, and backgrounds in infectious disease or molecular diagnostics research.
