Role Responsibilities

• Direct daily planning advisory services to ensure smooth operations.
• Provide mentorship, technical assistance, and leadership support to planning staff.
• Handle complex planning inquiries from various stakeholders including applicants and consultants.
• Organize and participate in pre-application consultations.
• Evaluate development proposals and offer expert planning advice.
• Manage processing of diverse land use and subdivision consents.
• Contribute to feedback on planning policies, plan revisions, and workflow improvements.
• Collaborate with engineers, building officials, environmental experts, customer service teams, and external partners.
• Maintain compliance with statutory requirements and uphold service standards consistently.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Formal qualification in Planning, Resource Management, Surveying, or related field.
• At least five years of experience in resource consenting, statutory planning, or development assessment.
• Proven knowledge and application of the Resource Management Act and associated planning regulations.
• Experience in mentoring or providing informal leadership within planning roles.
• Strong abilities in stakeholder engagement and customer relationship management.
• Excellent skills in written communication and report preparation.
• Good judgement, meticulous attention to detail, and adeptness at managing multiple priorities.
• Possession of a current, unrestricted driver's license.
