- Critically review draft method statements, progress and excavation reports, and heritage-related documentation.
- Assess CVs of proposed consultants or contractors to ensure compliance with archaeological standards.
- Maintain a comprehensive diary documenting archaeological activities, significant site incidents, and post-excavation progress.
- Ensure all reports, diaries, photographic records, and documentation are accurate, complete, and available for review by authorized personnel.
- Document and approve all variations from specifications and daily work records prior to execution.
- Record information related to project delays, disputes, adverse conditions, and interactions with subcontractors and landowners.
- Participate in regular site meetings alongside other supervisory staff, ensuring minutes are circulated to relevant stakeholders.
- Communicate relevant information to site staff that may impact their work and assist with administrative tasks related to archaeological service contracts.
Candidate Profile

- Experience in senior archaeological roles such as Site Director, Senior Archaeologist, Contractor’s Consultant Archaeologist, or Project Archaeologist conforming to an Archaeological Code of Practice as agreed with the Department.
- Demonstrated capability in managing archaeological excavations, post-excavation processes, and investigations for large-scale developments.
- Knowledgeable about the archaeology typically encountered across both urban and rural Irish environments.
- Experience drafting archaeological license applications and complex method statements.
- Skilled in carrying out archaeological heritage impact assessments.
- Strong familiarity with relevant Irish archaeology and heritage legislation and its application in Transport Infrastructure Ireland projects.
