Overview
The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) is seeking an experienced Research Scientist in Robotics and Autonomous Systems to lead cutting-edge scientific and technological initiatives within their RAS Research Centre in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead innovative research and development projects focused on robotics technologies
- Offer expert advice on robotic system design, software creation, integration, and conduct rigorous testing and validation
- Create and develop robotic prototypes for both lab and field deployment purposes
- Compose competitive research proposals aimed at securing external grants and funding
- Publish significant research findings in top-tier peer-reviewed journals and conferences
- Generate patents and contribute to the creation of intellectual property and novel robotics solutions
- Forge collaborative partnerships with industry, government, and academic organizations
- Support commercialization processes and facilitate technology transfer and industrial collaborations
- Manage interdisciplinary research teams and oversee project milestones and deliverables
- Provide mentorship to Research Associates, postgraduate students, and researchers
- Influence and contribute to the long-term strategy and technological roadmap of the Centre
Required Qualifications and Expertise
- Doctorate degree (PhD) in Robotics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
- At least two years of postdoctoral experience or equivalent research experience in industry
- Proven track record of publishing research and success in obtaining research funding

- Expertise in robotics and autonomous system technologies
- Competency in robotic hardware development and integration
- Proficiency in robotics software engineering and development
- Experience in system testing, validation, and experimental design
- Deep understanding of robot sensing, perception, and scientific research methodologies
- Ability to develop research proposals and produce scientific publications
- Skill in prototype development and technology commercialization processes
- Strong analytical problem-solving capabilities
- Leadership qualities and experience mentoring research personnel
