Role overview

This part-time, on-site role sits within the Allied Health Professionals team at North East London NHS Foundation Trust, supporting the Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge Falls Service in the BHR Borough. The post is centred on helping adults with varied physical, cognitive, and social care needs through person-focused falls management and rehabilitation support. What the role involves

As part of the BHR Falls Service, you will work under the supervision of qualified therapists to deliver tailored therapy support for adults with a range of needs. The role is focused on improving function, protecting safety, and promoting dignity and independence in the home and community. You will manage delegated work, support patients through structured programmes, and contribute to safeguarding and care standards.

• Run falls management interventions in both group sessions and individual appointments, following direction from a qualified therapist.
• Track patient response to treatment, share observations with therapists, and flag when review or further support is needed.
• Handle an allocated caseload and help carry out, review, and adjust treatment plans.
• Carry out home visits to check exercise plans, give falls-prevention advice, and support safer independent living.
• Work closely with patients, families, carers, and the wider multidisciplinary team when contributing to care decisions and planning.
• Keep clinical documentation accurate and comply with legal, professional, safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act, and infection control requirements.
• Help improve services, keep equipment stocks organised, and use resources effectively.
• Maintain high standards of care in line with local and national guidance and Trust procedures.

Essential skills and qualifications

• Sound clinical judgement and the ability to perform well in a busy, high-pressure setting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to support timely, joined-up care.
• Experience delivering therapy support under supervision, including group work and one-to-one falls programmes.
• Confidence in reviewing patient progress, giving detailed feedback, and recognising when escalation or reassessment is needed.
• Ability to manage a delegated caseload and adapt interventions to individual needs.
• Willingness and capability to conduct home visits, review exercise routines, and educate people on safe, independent living.
• Ability to maintain precise clinical records while working within legal, professional, and safeguarding frameworks.
• Teamworking skills for contributing to multidisciplinary discussions and care planning.
• A full driving licence and the ability to travel across the BHR Borough are required.

Start-up and onboarding

New starters are welcomed and inducted carefully. All new employees begin on the first Monday of each month and complete an induction lasting up to two weeks. This includes mandatory training, system training, and equipment allocation. The induction also offers chances to meet executive leaders, senior managers, and attend drop-in sessions covering engagement, health and wellbeing, and core processes. Induction takes place at the head office in Goodmayes, Essex.

Probation

This role is subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants do not need to complete probation unless they are already midway through a probationary period or are currently bank staff.

High cost area supplement

This post attracts an Outer London High Cost Area Supplement equal to 15% of the basic salary, with a minimum of £4,714 and a maximum of £5,941 per year, pro rata for part-time hours.
