Ranger/Parking Officer

This position offers a dynamic variety of tasks focused on maintaining accessible and safe public environments through education, enforcing compliance, and responsible regulation.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to community complaints and inquiries thoroughly.
• Enforce parking rules and regularly patrol public spaces.
• Handle companion animal issues, including control, impounding, investigations, and shelter management.
• Conduct inspections, gather evidence, and prepare enforcement documentation.
• Issue Penalty Infringement Notices, Official Cautions, Orders, and statutory notices as needed.
• Prepare legal briefs and represent the Council in Court or Tribunals when required.
• Collaborate closely with NSW government departments, emergency services, veterinarians, animal welfare groups, and community members.
• Maintain precise records, reports, and statutory documents.
• Support daily operations of the Council's Animal Shelter Facility.

Candidate Profile

• Holder of a current, valid NSW Driver's Licence.
• At least two years' relevant experience, preferably in regulatory, compliance, or local government ranger roles.
• Experience working with both small and large animals.
• Strong interpersonal communication, customer service acumen, investigative, and conflict resolution capabilities.
• Skilled in interpreting legislation and applying sound judgment while maintaining professionalism under challenging circumstances.
• Proficient in organizational tasks and computer usage, including Microsoft Office and report generation.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to foster a positive team environment.
• Commitment to safety, dependability, and delivering high-quality services to the community.
• Flexible to participate in after-hours and on-call duties; willing to undertake mandatory role-specific training such as dangerous dog handling.
• Compliance with immunization requirements or willingness to obtain.

Desirable qualifications include current First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) and Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) or an equivalent credential.

Benefits and Conditions

This position is classified as Grade 9 under the Council salary framework, starting between $70,108.50 ($35.48 per hour) and $80,624.78 ($40.80 per hour), depending on qualifications and experience. Employment terms adhere to the Local Government (State) Award and Council policies.

• 38-hour work week plus a fortnightly rostered day off (RDO).
