Overview
Become a key member of a leading Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities (RMBS) underwriting group as a Desk Strategist Analyst within Quantitative Trading and Research (QTR). This role involves collaboration across underwriting, structuring, financing, banking, trading, risk management, and technology functions. The focus is on creating advanced analytics and tools that influence collateral evaluation, risk pricing, client engagement, and transaction execution.
Role Responsibilities
- Handle large-scale datasets to generate consistent, automated reports and analyses for the trading desk.
- Design and implement quantitative tools supporting decisions on RMBS underwriting, pricing, structuring, and securitization transactions.
- Develop and refine scalable tools to enhance the accuracy, usability, and efficiency of analytics and modeling in a live deal environment.
- Support the upkeep and enhancement of internal valuation models, scenario analyses, and risk assessment frameworks as needed.
- Work closely with technology teams to integrate analytic tools with existing desk systems and data infrastructure ensuring robustness and maintainability.
- Apply rigorous engineering practices such as testing, documentation, and version control, including utilizing firm-approved AI-assisted development techniques to speed delivery.
Candidate Qualifications
- A bachelor's or master's degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, or economics/finance.
- Proficiency in Python programming is essential.
- A solid quantitative background coupled with a strong interest in financial markets.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Self-driven with critical thinking abilities, a strong sense of ownership, and meticulous attention to detail.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with SQL is advantageous.
- Background in financial markets is beneficial.
- Knowledge of mortgage or structured financial products is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in building reusable tools that serve multiple users beyond single analyses.
