Role Overview

Beacon is hiring a Quality Assurance Tester to help ensure product quality across its cloud-based platform. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-focused, comfortable with both manual and automated testing, and able to work closely with engineering and product teams in an Agile environment. The position reports to the Director of Software Development and is fully remote.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Contribute to software that supports compliance outcomes for millions of Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries.
  • Collaborate with a modern, cloud-native engineering team in a high-growth environment.
  • Influence quality processes and help expand automation coverage with real ownership of product reliability.
  • Enjoy competitive pay, remote flexibility, and work tied to a meaningful healthcare mission.

Key Responsibilities

Test planning and execution

  • Create, maintain, and run detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts for new features, enhancements, and bug fixes across the platform.
  • Carry out functional, regression, integration, exploratory, and user acceptance testing for web and application-based products.
  • Log, monitor, and manage defects throughout their lifecycle in tools such as Jira, with reports that are easy to reproduce and understand.
  • Confirm that releases satisfy acceptance criteria and are ready for production rollout.

Automation and tooling

  • Help build and maintain automated test coverage using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
  • Spot repeatable test scenarios that can be automated to improve testing speed and efficiency.
  • Assist with adding automated tests into CI/CD workflows so releases can move quickly and reliably.

Collaboration and Agile delivery

  • Partner with engineers, product managers, and designers to understand requirements and give QA input early in development.
  • Take part in Agile/Scrum activities such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.
  • Share testing progress, quality indicators, and risk notes with teammates and stakeholders.
  • Promote quality best practices and support ongoing improvements to team processes.

Experience and Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in software QA or testing, ideally in SaaS or healthcare technology.
  • Practical experience creating and running test cases and writing bug reports.
  • Working knowledge of tools such as Jira or TestRail for defect tracking and project management.
  • Understanding of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and REST APIs and how they influence testing.
  • Basic scripting or programming ability in one language such as Python or JavaScript.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams with cross-functional product and engineering partners.

Personal Competencies

  • Strong analytical thinking and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to observe how systems behave in real-world conditions and identify issues early.
  • Clear written and verbal communication for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • High ownership, accountability, and follow-through on product quality.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to share knowledge and improve processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay effective in a fast-moving Agile setting.
