Role overview
The Quality Assurance / Quality Control Inspector is responsible for making sure equipment consistently complies with company quality expectations across the full product journey. The position covers quality checks from the receipt of materials and parts, through fabrication and assembly, up to final inspection and dispatch. It also involves working alongside Procurement, Production, Engineering, and Logistics to ensure adherence to internal procedures, customer specifications, and relevant industry requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Examine incoming materials, parts, and equipment against purchase specifications, drawings, and quality criteria.
- Check supplier paperwork such as certificates of conformity, calibration certificates, and inspection records.
- Spot non-conforming items, document them, and place them in quarantine.
- Work with suppliers and internal teams to close quality gaps and resolve issues.
- Keep accurate records for incoming inspections.
- Carry out regular inspections during fabrication, assembly, and servicing activities.
- Confirm that products are built and tested in line with approved work instructions, engineering drawings, and quality procedures.
- Record defects, investigate issues, and drive corrective actions with the relevant teams.
- Complete final inspection checks before products are shipped.
- Verify that customer requirements and quality standards are satisfied before release.
- Maintain QA/QC files, inspection logs, checklists, and quality reports.
- Assist in implementing and improving the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Take part in internal audits and support external audits, including ISO 9001 audits.
- Track the calibration status of inspection and test equipment.
- Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) as well as Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Perform visual, dimensional, mechanical, and electrical checks when required.
- Coordinate calibration and certification work with approved laboratories or service providers.
- Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and witness inspections by customers or third parties when needed.
Qualifications and competencies
- Diploma or technical certificate in Quality Management or a related discipline.
- At least 2 to 5 years of QA/QC inspection experience in manufacturing or marine industries.
- Working knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001.
- Understanding of inspection tools, measurement instruments, and calibration methods.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and assembly documents.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and managing quality-related documentation.
- Strong analytical ability, problem-solving skills, and communication skills.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Background in supplier quality management and vendor inspection.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong commitment to quality and continual improvement.
- Able to juggle several inspection tasks in a busy, fast-moving environment.
Additional information
This position is based in Singapore and is a full-time, onsite role.
