Role Overview
This position offers a chance for an experienced QA professional to lead the QA team in a dynamic, fast-moving environment. The QA Lead will oversee testing ownership across multiple projects, uphold strategies that promote high quality, and collaborate closely with business and technology teams throughout the entire Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
Key Responsibilities
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of business domains, customer requirements, and financial regulatory standards.
- Serve as the main QA contact for stakeholders from both business and technical sectors.
- Design, refine, and evolve testing approaches and overall strategy continuously.
- Encourage quality integration from the earliest stages of software delivery.
- Initiate process enhancements and share best practices across teams.
- Balance direct involvement in testing with leadership duties such as mentoring and strategic planning.
- Guide and support QA team members fostering a cooperative and continuous improvement culture.
- Analyse business and technical documentation for quality and testability assurance.
- Evaluate risks, prioritize testing efforts, and communicate any issues along with mitigation plans effectively.
- Define and report on quality metrics and readiness indicators for releases.
- Advocate for shift-left testing, increased test automation, quality engineering, and reusable testing resources.
- Develop queries for relational databases using SQL, DB2, or similar languages.
- Support innovative testing solutions including AI-enabled testing practices.
- Contribute to automation initiatives with tools like Rational Functional Tester (RFT), TestComplete, or equivalents.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in software testing and quality assurance with at least 5 years in leadership roles such as Test Lead, QA Lead, or Test Manager.
- Demonstrable experience with mainframe systems and large transformation programs.
- Proficient in formulating and implementing testing strategies within complex environments.
- Strong grasp of test management, defect tracking, and QA methodologies.
- Experienced in Agile and Waterfall project delivery models.
- Competent with industry common tools for test and defect management.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing abilities.
- Proven leadership experience managing QA personnel across various projects.
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent blend of education and experience.
- Outstanding problem-solving, analytical, written, and verbal skills.
- Ability to forge strong cross-functional relationships and collaborate effectively.
- Strategic thinking with capacity to blend hands-on tasks with leadership duties.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in financial services or related sectors like wealth management, banking, trading, or fintech.
- Participation in extensive business or transformation initiatives.
- ISTQB Foundation or Advanced certifications.
- Familiarity with API testing, performance testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
