Role Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deliver firmware components for IBM Z systems using current technologies.
• Leverage architectural and functional documentation to create and unit test software components ready for product integration.
• Collaborate closely with design teams to enhance user experiences through joint development efforts.
• Debug and resolve issues by designing, implementing, and unit testing solutions to ensure quality outputs.
• Provide timely fixes for customer-reported defects and contribute to projects such as hardware management console mobile applications and I/O adapters.
• Engage actively in agile development cycles encompassing design, coding, reviews, testing (unit, functional, simulation), and real hardware integration.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree (required).
• Proficiency in Python 3.9+ for production systems programming including daemon development, inter-process communication, file handling, and package creation.
• Strong command of Linux fundamentals: system commands, core tools, shell scripting, and environment management.
• Hands-on experience with Linux systems programming: VFIO/PCIe device handling, kernel driver interfacing, sysfs navigation.
• Solid understanding of container platforms: working knowledge with Podman CLI, Kubernetes/OpenShift pod lifecycle APIs, image registries, and volume mounting.
• Expertise in continuous integration/delivery and automation tools such as Jenkins, Tekton, or Ansible, including scripting across build, test, and deployment operations.
• Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs using frameworks like CherryPy, Flask, or FastAPI, including exposure to API architecture design.
• Competence with inter-process communication and remote procedure call frameworks: socket programming, rpyc, IPC patterns.
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL database schema design, ORM frameworks like SQLAlchemy or Django ORM, and query optimization for structured data persistence.
• Knowledge to architect scalable, distributed, high-availability systems supporting multi-card/multi-platform deployments with fault tolerance.
• Experience with build and packaging tools such as CMake and RPM spec files for cross-platform configuration and versioning.
• Understanding observability and telemetry including structured logging and metrics pipelines.
• Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills enabling effective cross-team collaboration.
• Bonus: Experience with system programming languages such as C++, Go, or Rust.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with IBM Z architecture (s390x).
• Exposure to agentic AI and LLM-based autonomous agents, tool pipelines, or multi-agent orchestration frameworks.
• Advanced proficiency in C++ including manual memory management, RAII patterns, and system-level performance optimization.
