Role Overview
This role is dedicated to leading and optimizing the procurement operations within a business unit, ensuring sourcing of high-quality products and services at optimal costs to support timely operational needs. It emphasizes developing robust relationships with vendors, enforcing procurement policy compliance, and enhancing cost effectiveness aligned with organizational goals.
Reporting and Collaboration
The position reports directly to the Business Head or General Manager of Purchase and requires interaction with various external stakeholders such as vendors, consultants, service providers, statutory authorities, and contractors, as well as internal teams including senior leadership, finance, projects, engineering, operations, and administration.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage comprehensive procurement operations from vendor selection and negotiation to contracting and ensuring punctual delivery of goods and services.
- Enforce standardized procurement processes and maintain detailed documentation to facilitate audits.
- Optimize procurement workflows to reduce lead times and prevent operational delays.
- Monitor market trends, discover new suppliers, and explore technological advancements to refine sourcing strategies.
- Introduce and promote best practices and innovative procurement solutions enhancing vendor performance and cost savings.
- Conduct training sessions for stakeholders on procurement procedures, compliance, and vendor relations.
- Establish and nurture long-term strategic relationships with suppliers to secure favorable terms and dependable supply chains.
- Coordinate with internal departments to accurately forecast material needs.
- Lead supplier evaluation initiatives to maintain consistent quality, service, and cost efficiency.
- Develop and oversee procurement budgets ensuring efficient resource allocation.
- Negotiate vendor contracts to maximize value while limiting financial and operational risks.
- Prepare and present monthly procurement performance reports including spend analysis, cost savings, supplier metrics, and future demands.
- Collaborate with senior management to align procurement strategies with overall business objectives.
- Steer policy implementations, system enhancements, and strategic sourcing initiatives to boost competitive positioning.
- Maintain high standards of integrity, ethics, and confidentiality, providing mentorship to junior procurement staff.
- Ensure compliance with laws, organizational policies, and ethical standards in all procurement activities.
- Keep thorough records of suppliers, contracts, and communications to comply with audit requirements.
- Identify potential supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to address them.
- Oversee occupational health and safety compliance among suppliers, eliminating hazards and ensuring safety protocols during delivery, handling, and storage.
Qualifications and Experience
- Holds a degree or postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- At least 10 years of solid experience in procurement, vendor management, and strategic sourcing, ideally within hospitality, premium retail, or large-scale operational sectors.
