About the Role

ALH Hotels is seeking a hands-on Publican for Alderley Arms Hotel in Gaythorne, Queensland. This is a full-time, on-site leadership role offering a base salary from $88,000 plus superannuation, bonus, and group-wide discounts.

The venue has been part of the suburb since 1886 and is positioned as a welcoming local pub known for hearty meals, cold beer, and a strong sense of community. The successful candidate will be someone who genuinely enjoys hospitality, leads by example, and helps create the kind of atmosphere that keeps regulars coming back.

Role Snapshot

As Publican, you’ll combine people leadership, venue operations, and community connection. You’ll be expected to manage the pub with the mindset of an owner, maintain safety and compliance, and help deliver a consistent guest experience that reflects the venue’s local character.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Building strong relationships with locals and creating a venue that feels familiar, welcoming, and well-run.
• Keeping a close eye on commercial performance, including profit and loss.
• Running day-to-day operations with a focus on safety, smooth service, and compliance.
• Supporting and leading a high-performing team.
• Handling issues quickly and effectively before they impact the guest experience.
• Bringing energy, service quality, and a positive atmosphere to every shift.

Inherent Requirements

This position involves regular manual handling and physical work, including moving stock, kegs, and deliveries. Applicants must be able to carry out these tasks safely and efficiently.

You should already understand the pace and responsibility of running a pub and bring the confidence, presence, and pride needed to take ownership of a busy venue.

Required Qualifications

You must hold current RSA and RSG/RCG credentials, in line with state requirements.
