Description de l'emploi

About Alpha ESS

Alpha ESS is an energy storage technology company focused on advancing the shift to cleaner power. With more than a decade of expertise in storage solutions and over 30,000 stationary systems deployed globally, the company is expanding its team with people who are enthusiastic, dependable, and committed to supporting environmental progress.

Role Overview

The Public Sector & Institutional Relations Manager will serve as the company’s key interface with government bodies, development partners, and sector advisers in Nigeria. The role combines relationship management, policy tracking, strategic intelligence, and support for the company’s public-sector positioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with institutions such as the Rural Electrification Agency, Nigeria Electrification Project, the Ministry of Power, related agencies, and development partners including the World Bank, AfDB, EU, and technical consultants.
  • Represent the company professionally in meetings, workshops, consultations, and industry events, maintaining a neutral, informed, and policy-conscious presence.
  • Follow government energy initiatives, donor-backed programs, policy drafts, concept papers, and framework documents to identify opportunities early, even before tenders or RFPs are issued.
  • Prepare internal updates that explain program goals, funding arrangements, key stakeholders, and the likely commercial and technical impact on the company.
  • Support the company’s credibility as a long-term partner in Nigeria’s energy transition through involvement in consultations, technical workshops, and pilot or demonstration conversations.
  • Ensure all outward messaging reflects public-sector priorities such as local participation, sustainability, capacity building, and sustained engagement.
  • Convert policy and institutional developments into practical guidance for leadership and management.
  • Advise on market direction, regulatory trends, opportunities, risks, and how government priorities align with the company’s capabilities.
  • Draft concise memos, meeting notes, and strategic summaries for internal use.

Qualifications & Experience

A bachelor’s degree is required in Public Policy, Economics, Energy or Power Systems, International Development, Engineering, or a related discipline.

The role calls for 5 to 10 years of experience in areas such as government agencies involved in energy or infrastructure, donor-funded energy or infrastructure programs, power-sector consulting, or policy research.

Applicants should have a solid understanding of Nigeria’s power-sector environment, experience working with public institutions and development partners, and strong English communication skills in both writing and speaking.

Preferred Background

Prior exposure to organizations such as REA, NEP, the Ministry of Power, similar public institutions, or donor-led programs with the World Bank, AfDB, or comparable partners will be an advantage.

It is also helpful to be able to read and interpret technical and policy documents and to have familiarity with renewable energy, mini-grids, or energy storage initiatives.
