- Participate in duty and triage rotations to manage referrals, collaborate with senior clinicians, and ensure appropriate client allocation.
- Conduct patient-centered interviews to identify clients’ goals for change and assess risks to self and others accurately.
- Determine referral suitability, provide appropriate signposting, and escalate cases to high intensity therapy when necessary.
- Offer guidance on self-help tools including computerized CBT and inform clients about pharmacological options.
- Involve family members and support networks in treatment processes when appropriate.
- Maintain agreed clinical activity levels to reduce waiting times and ensure a consistent service.

- Integrate employment and work-related issues into therapeutic interventions.
- Promote an inclusive, recovery-oriented approach that values diversity.
- Prepare and present clinical cases during scheduled supervision to uphold clinical governance and safe practice.
- Manage complex client interactions, often involving emotional communication, with tact and professional judgment.
Qualification and Experience Requirements
- Essential: Qualification from a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Training Course (Postgraduate Certificate or Level 3 undergraduate course) or equivalent experience, such as a qualified Graduate Mental Health Worker with relevant primary care skills.
- Desirable: Additional postgraduate qualifications in psychology, health, social sciences, or research methodologies.
- Proven experience working with individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.
- Experience in IAPT or primary care environments providing low intensity psychological interventions.
- Track record of meeting clinical targets and delivering measurable positive outcomes.
- Familiarity with electronic patient management systems such as IAPTUS, PCMIS, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge and experience in conducting risk assessments and managing associated risks.
- Additional beneficial experience includes community-based work and involvement in research or audits.
Skills and Personal Attributes
- Exceptional verbal, written, and telephone communication skills.
- Ability to navigate highly emotive situations and communicate sensitive information effectively to clients, carers, and colleagues.
- In-depth understanding of mental health challenges and psychological concepts as applied in healthcare.
- Computer literacy and capability to operate under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster therapeutic relationships and work constructively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Self-motivated, reliable, adaptable, and able to manage workload independently with regular management support.
- Willingness to accept and effectively utilize clinical supervision.
- Desirable: Fluency in a locally significant language beyond English and experience delivering group interventions.
