About UniServices and the Role

UniServices serves as the University of Auckland's commercialisation and innovation arm, linking cutting-edge research with industry and fostering growth. The role involves leading the BRAVE project, a significant international research initiative under the Global Vaccine Data Network (GVDN), funded by CEPI. This position requires managing a complex, multi-national project focused on advancing vaccine safety and public health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and daily management of the BRAVE project, ensuring all deliverables, milestones, budgets, and objectives are successfully met.
  • Facilitate project governance and risk management, maintaining clear oversight of progress, challenges, and dependencies within the global consortium.
  • Collaborate closely with funders, international partners, site leads, and internal experts to coordinate tasks, manage expectations, and drive project success.
  • Manage reporting, change control, and quality assurance processes, assuring accurate documentation and compliance with contractual and funding obligations.
  • Assist in budget and expenditure management alongside financial teams and partners to ensure sound financial control.
  • Promote effective communication and engagement across all consortium members by supporting updates, presentations, and stakeholder interactions.
  • Champion digital tools and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery, reporting, and teamwork among globally dispersed teams.

Additional Responsibilities and Conditions

The role involves international collaboration, particularly with partners in Africa, requiring occasional travel (one to two times yearly). Flexibility to work across different time zones and virtually is essential.

About the Global Vaccine Data Network

The GVDN is a worldwide, investigator-led consortium spanning 34 countries, dedicated to using clinical data to evaluate vaccine safety, efficacy, and risk-benefit analyses. UniServices hosts the Global Coordinating Centre and spearheads client and funder interactions with partner sites worldwide.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience managing complex projects or programmes with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Strong skills in planning, coordination, risk management, governance, and reporting.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with a diverse array of stakeholders, including funders, research partners, and governance bodies.
  • Financial competency with experience monitoring budgets and supporting financial forecasts and reports.
  • Excellent communication and meeting management skills, capable of presenting complex concepts clearly and driving coordination.
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration software such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, and platforms like ClickUp or equivalents.
  • Adaptability to work effectively in virtual settings across multiple international time zones.
  • Highly organised with attention to detail, able to identify risks, escalate issues, and maintain thorough project documentation.

Experience in research, health, science, non-profit, or internationally funded programme environments is highly desirable. Exposure to research governance, contracts, grants, or consortium projects is a plus.

Benefits and Work Conditions

  • 15-month fixed-term full-time contract (40 hours/week, Monday to Friday).
  • Competitive salary with incentives and benefits according to experience.
  • Five weeks of annual leave.
  • Superannuation contributions up to 6.75% by the employer.
  • Subsidies for eye testing and glasses.
  • Discounts on health insurance and gym memberships.
  • Long-service recognition and a culturally diverse, supportive workplace.
  • Flexible working arrangements with a blend of office and home-based work.
  • Commitment to professional development opportunities.
