Position Summary
The Programme Manager will be the key leader driving memorable afternoon experiences for children at Merivale (Selwyn House School). This role requires at least 15 hours weekly, scheduled Monday through Friday, primarily between 2:30 pm and 6:00 pm, with necessary availability starting at 2:30 pm. Additional hours during school holidays may be offered, typically between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the sKids programme ensuring smooth functioning from setup to closure.
- Lead and manage a diverse group of children, fostering a safe, inclusive, and stimulating atmosphere while effectively addressing various behaviours.
- Design and execute structured activities such as arts & crafts, sports, games, outings (e.g., swimming, walks, picnics), baking, drama, and music classes.
- Use positive behavioural guidance techniques to handle challenging behaviours and support children with different needs.
- Serve as the primary contact onsite, building strong professional relationships with parents, caregivers, and school personnel.
- Coach, lead, and delegate tasks to Programme Assistants to maintain high programme standards and accountability.
- Prepare materials and plan activities in advance to ensure smooth and engaging sessions.
Qualifications and Eligibility
- Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand (valid visa or citizenship is required).
- Reliable transportation to reach programme locations.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with children in environments such as OSCAR programmes, teaching, coaching, childcare, or camps.
- Skilled in managing high-energy groups and challenging behaviours while maintaining calm and solution-focused approaches.
- Proven ability to independently take charge of programmes, teams, or operations instead of just supporting roles.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with parents, school staff, and team members.
- Must be aged 20 or older, complying with Social Security (Childcare Assistance) Regulations 2004.
