Role Overview

The company is looking for a highly detail-oriented Product Designer focused on design systems. This person will lead and enhance Tavus's design framework—comprising components, tokens, and UI patterns—ensuring it supports all product surfaces efficiently at scale.

The role requires exceptional visual design skills, including a refined sense of typography, color theory, spacing, and motion, coupled with strong product design insight. The designer will initially concentrate on consolidating and structuring the design system into a scalable, coherent foundation, evolving eventually into hands-on ownership of a product area and direct contributions to product delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and architect scalable token structures, component hierarchies, and theming models (including light and dark modes) to maintain system consistency across multiple products.
• Implement governance frameworks for the design system, including standards, documentation, and contribution protocols, to ensure design coherence amid growth and collaboration.
• Collaborate closely with frontend engineers to guarantee precise implementation and align design intent with code execution.
• Apply meticulous visual and interaction craftsmanship, with attention to micro-interactions and motion, ensuring the system's components feel intentional, polished, and uniquely Tavus.
• Promote widespread adoption by creating accessible resources, documentation, and fostering strong cross-functional relationships.

Candidate Profile

• Highly skilled visual designer with a keen eye for typography, color, layout, and detailed motion design.
• Experienced product designer with over six years of proven UX design judgment and user flow understanding.
• Expertise in building and managing design systems at scale, with a portfolio demonstrating architectural leadership beyond just contributions.
• Creative originator who creates unique and original designs rather than replicating common SaaS styles.
• Strong rationale communicator, capable of defending design decisions thoughtfully and constructively.
• Decisive in ambiguous situations, able to weigh design tradeoffs carefully and deliver solutions confidently.
• Comfortable interfacing with development teams, reviewing code implementation, and preventing design drift.
• Adept at thriving in fast-moving startup environments with minimal guidance while maintaining high-quality standards.
