Description de l'emploi

About the Position

Located in Qatar, the Lashuel Laboratory at Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral associate specializing in protein biochemistry and structural biology. The lab focuses on chemical, biophysical, structural, and molecular biology methods to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of protein misfolding and aggregation implicated in neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Huntington's disease, and ALS.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce, purify, and analyze disease-relevant proteins to achieve high purity and yield.
  • Lead detailed biophysical and structural evaluation, correlating molecular structure with biological functions and toxicity.
  • Design, optimize, and conduct experiments while analyzing and interpreting data with rigor.
  • Present research findings within the team and at scientific conferences.
  • Contribute to manuscript writing for publications, as well as grant proposals and progress reports.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology, chemistry, molecular biology, or closely related fields.
  • Extensive hands-on experience spanning multiple years in protein biochemistry, biophysics, and structural characterization.
  • Strong proficiency in recombinant protein expression and purification utilizing affinity, ion-exchange, and size-exclusion chromatography.
  • Expertise in biophysical methods such as circular dichroism, fluorescence spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, SEC-MALS, analytical ultracentrifugation, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), and/or surface plasmon resonance (SPR).
  • Experience with structural biology techniques including cryo-electron microscopy, X-ray crystallography, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), or negative-stain electron microscopy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, collaborative mindset, and proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and international teams.

Application Process

Candidates who meet all essential requirements are encouraged to apply. Please submit a single PDF document containing a cover letter, detailed curriculum vitae including publications, and contact information of three references via email.
