Overview
Based at the Clitheroe Delivery Office (BB7 2AJ), this permanent position offers an hourly wage of £13.68 paid monthly with additional paid overtime opportunities. The role involves working 35 hours weekly, spread over 5 days in a 7-day rotation including Monday through Sunday shifts from 08:00 to 15:00 or 13:00 to 19:00. Candidates should expect some weekend work and be prepared to work Sundays at the Pendle Delivery Office.
Key Duties
- Organise and sort letters and parcels at the delivery center.
- Distribute mail on foot and by Royal Mail van within the local community.
- Establish and maintain positive customer interactions.
- Operate in all weather conditions while delivering.
The role is physically active and fast-paced, requiring walking distances of up to 12 miles per day, driving a van daily, and managing a high volume of letters and parcels especially during busier periods.
Candidate Profile
- Must hold a valid full manual UK driving licence with no more than six penalty points, bearing the current name and address.
- Ability and willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily, supported by a required driving assessment.
- Physically fit, capable of walking long distances, climbing stairs or hills, and lifting mailbags weighing over 10kg.
- Demonstrates reliability, motivation, excellent organisational skills, and resilience in a demanding work environment.
- Customer-oriented, with pride in delivering excellent service independently and outdoors.
