Job description
Role Overview
Our dynamic shipping company is seeking a committed professional to oversee comprehensive post-fixture operations. This role is essential for safeguarding the commercial interests of our fleet, which includes tankers, gas carriers, and dry bulk vessels, through meticulous billing management, collection oversight, and resolving complex disputes with charterers.
Key Duties
- Oversee the entire post-fixture operational process, including invoicing for freight and hire.
- Track vessel schedules and payment due dates to ensure prompt receipt of payments.
- Calculate voyage-related claims such as laytime, deviations, and heating, with appropriate documentation.
- Keep detailed records in the IMOS system and administer broker commissions according to agreements.
- Monitor receivables closely and escalate overdue payments proactively to limit financial risk.
- Prepare payment instructions for treasury concerning bareboat vessels and reconcile receipts with invoices.
- Analyze charterer counterclaims and develop technical responses to support the owner's standpoint.
- Lead dispute resolution negotiations with charterers and devise settlement strategies.
- Collaborate with departments such as chartering, compliance, and accounting to enhance internal workflows.
- Ensure that all claims are filed within contractual time limits by regularly reviewing voyage details.
Qualifications & Skills
- Possess a degree or diploma in maritime studies, shipping, logistics, or accounting.
- Have at least three years of experience in post-fixture or commercial shipping operations.
- Strong command of interpreting and implementing complex charterparty clauses and terms.
- Proficient with IMOS software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills for precise data analysis and reporting.
- Experience in creating and supporting detailed maritime claims.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Fluent communication skills in both written and spoken English.
- Capacity to work independently and efficiently under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
