Role Overview

ERGANSZ, the Electricity Retailers’ and Generators’ Association of New Zealand, invites applications for the position of Policy & Regulatory Lead. You will play a pivotal role influencing the future direction of New Zealand's electricity system by driving policy and regulatory initiatives that address major challenges including affordability, reliability, electrification, consumer confidence, and market design.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct policy evaluation and prepare submissions concerning the electricity market and regulatory landscape.
• Formulate evidence-based policy positions along with advocacy strategies.
• Engage proactively with government bodies, regulators, industry stakeholders, and leaders.
• Create practical, actionable solutions aimed at enhancing outcomes for consumers and the broader electricity network.
• Offer strategic insights on upcoming challenges and opportunities within the energy sector.

Candidate Profile

• Proven expertise in energy policy, regulatory frameworks, market design, consumer policy, or related disciplines.
• Strong analytical capabilities paired with effective communication skills.
• Aptitude for simplifying complex topics into clear, implementable recommendations.
• Confidence in liaising with senior figures across industry, government, and regulatory agencies.
