About the Role
Lavanya Healthcare Limited invites applications for the position of Pharmacy Costing Chemist based in Chandigarh. This role involves performing detailed costing for Ayurvedic, herbal, pharmaceutical, and nutraceutical products, focusing on calculating accurate expenses related to raw materials, packaging, and manufacturing processes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop detailed product-wise cost analyses considering raw and packaging materials, processing expenditures, and manufacturing overheads.
- Compute Batch Manufacturing Costs (BMC) and determine costs per individual unit.
- Create and consistently update Bills of Materials (BOM) and standard costing sheets to ensure accuracy.
- Calculate required quantities and costs of raw materials based on product formulations and batch volumes.
- Regularly monitor and adjust raw material and packaging costs in coordination with relevant departments.
- Collaborate with Production, Procurement, Quality Control, R&D, and Accounts teams to maintain precise costing data.
- Investigate discrepancies between standard costs and actual production expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare quotes and cost projections for both new and existing product lines.
- Maintain comprehensive records of formulas, batch sizes, yield rates, and consumption norms pertinent to costing.
- Verify data related to material consumption, waste, yields, and process expenses to support accurate accounting.
- Assist management with pricing strategy and profitability analyses to enhance financial performance.
- Ensure all costing documentation is maintained accurately using MS Excel and ERP systems, with strict confidentiality regarding proprietary product information.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in B.Sc./M.Sc. Chemistry, B.Pharm, M.Pharm, or equivalent qualifications in pharmaceutical or life sciences.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical, Ayurvedic, herbal, nutraceutical, or FMCG manufacturing environments preferred.
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel including advanced functions such as formulas, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and Pivot Tables along with basic data analysis capabilities.
- Excellent analytical thinking, numerical accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of product costing, formulations, batch manufacturing, and packaging processes within the pharmaceutical or related sectors.
