Job description

Role Overview

The Personal Bodyguard role entails safeguarding individuals from physical dangers, security threats, unauthorized intrusions, harassment, and similar hazards while maintaining a professional and low-profile demeanor. Responsibilities encompass evaluating security threats, devising protective strategies, vigilantly observing environments, arranging secure movements, and acting swiftly during emergencies.

Key Duties

  • Offer close personal protection to private clients, executives, public figures, high-profile individuals, and their families.
  • Perform thorough security evaluations of various locations including residences, workplaces, venues, travel paths, and event sites.
  • Detect possible threats, weaknesses, suspicious behavior, and security issues.
  • Formulate and apply personal safety protocols and security procedures.
  • Maintain continual awareness of surroundings and monitor ongoing environmental changes.
  • Plan secure transportation routes along with arrival, departure, and movement logistics.
  • Conduct preliminary inspections of venues such as entrances, exits, parking lots, meeting spots, accommodations, and events.
  • Control access to restricted areas by verifying credentials of authorized personnel.
  • Coordinate with drivers, security personnel, event staff, law enforcement agencies, household staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Accompany and protect clients during business, travel, social, and public engagements.
  • Maintain confidential communications with security teams and designated contacts.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies including medical incidents, security violations, accidents, and evacuations.
  • Assist in executing emergency evacuation and relocation plans.
  • Monitor transport vehicles, routes, and parking zones for potential security risks.
  • Manage security devices, communication tools, protective gear, emergency resources, and assigned equipment.
  • Document incidents, maintain security logs, perform threat assessments, and keep detailed daily activity reports.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality of all personal, business, travel, and security-related information concerning the individuals protected.
  • Support household and residential security measures when necessary.
  • Arrange security protocols for both domestic and international travel.
  • Stay updated on threat levels and revise protective tactics accordingly.
  • Maintain professional conduct by respecting client privacy, boundaries, and preferences.
  • Participate in security briefings, fitness regimens, first-aid instruction, emergency preparedness training, and ongoing professional development.
  • Constantly enhance procedures for protection, communication, risk management, and emergency responsiveness.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Formal education such as a diploma or bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Military Studies, or related areas is favorable.
  • Professional training in close protection, executive security, or personal security is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive understanding of personal safety, risk evaluation, threat detection, surveillance, access control, and protective methodologies.
  • Excellent situational awareness and capability to identify unusual behaviors and emerging threats.
  • High-level physical fitness, alertness, coordination, and endurance.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, observation, and decision-making abilities.
  • Calm, focused demeanor under stress or rapidly evolving situations.
  • Knowledge of first aid, CPR, emergency procedures, evacuation tactics, and basic medical aid is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with security technologies including communication systems, GPS, CCTV, access control, and emergency equipment.
  • Experience or understanding of advanced security tools such as risk-assessment software, digital security, GPS tracking, artificial intelligence, and threat monitoring systems.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all sensitive client information.
  • Collaborative skills to work alongside drivers, security staff, household teams, event managers, law enforcement, and venue officials.
  • Organizational skills for managing security plans, schedules, travel arrangements, incident reports, and operational details.
  • Possessing a valid driver’s license along with advanced defensive or protective driving certifications is a plus when driving duties are involved.
  • Relevant recognized certifications in close protection, executive security, first aid, emergency response, or security are beneficial.
  • Strong ethical principles, respect for privacy, knowledge of legalities, and professional security conduct.
  • High integrity, discipline, reliability, professionalism, and responsibility.
  • Dedication to continuous learning on protection techniques, security advances, emergency preparedness, risk mitigation, and travel security.
