About Codes Health
Codes Health is transforming the flow of medical records through the legal sector. Plaintiff law firms currently depend on outdated, fragmented services for medical record retrieval, resulting in lengthy delays and limited transparency. We are building advanced infrastructure to access records nationwide, expertly managing the complexity of healthcare providers and delivering well-organized, structured records that accelerate case progress. Our goal is full automation of record retrieval through a smart, continuously learning platform tailored to thousands of healthcare workflows.
Founded two years ago and based in New York City, we recently secured $17.5M in Series A funding. Rapid growth is underway as we tackle one of the healthcare industry's most complex operational challenges.
About the Role
As the inaugural People hire, you will be a key partner in scaling a small but high-performing team, ensuring we maintain our agility, excellence, and distinctive culture. This position requires foresight and proactive management of challenges associated with fast growth while fostering a workplace where employees feel valued and supported. You'll establish all People operations from the ground up and report directly to the CEO.
Responsibilities
- Manage the entire employee lifecycle, including onboarding and offboarding, to ensure a cohesive and strong employee experience.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on employee relations, maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgment during sensitive situations.
- Oversee People operations and compliance efforts, including managing policies, updating the employee handbook, visa support, and maintaining People-related documentation.
- Collaborate closely with the CEO to design organizational structure suited for scaling, with the opportunity to build your own team as the company grows.
- Work full-time onsite in our New York City office, with relocation support if needed.
Candidate Profile
- 5 to 8 years of experience in Human Resources, People Operations, or talent management, preferably with a proven history of creating or expanding People functions in fast-growing companies.
- Motivated by building processes and infrastructure from scratch that enhance team efficiency and speed.
- Exemplary judgment and high standards, able to build trust, handle difficult conversations directly, and creatively solve problems.
- Strong program management capabilities and familiarity with contemporary HR technologies such as Rippling, Ashby, or Lattice.

Compensation and Benefits
- Annual base salary ranging between $100,000 and $200,000, determined by experience and qualifications.
