Description de l'emploi

About the Role

This is a hands-on People & Culture leadership position with a purpose-driven environmental consultancy in Sydney. The business is expanding and has ambitious growth plans, so this role is central to shaping and scaling the HR function from the ground up. You will report to the Head of Operations and support a project-based workforce across a growing organisation of 150+ employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and deliver people programs and core HR processes for a workforce of more than 150 employees.
  • Lead the rollout and adoption of a new HRIS platform, including process and systems integration.
  • Create and implement capability frameworks, performance structures, and review cycles.
  • Support employee relations activities by guiding leaders and employees on Fair Work and Australian employment law matters.
  • Handle workplace investigations, performance management matters, and grievance resolution.
  • Draft, update, and maintain HR policies, frameworks, and procedures to stay aligned with Australian legislation and current best practice.
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding activities.
  • Manage WHS-related activities, including safety process development, WorkCover support, and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Strengthen talent attraction efforts and put recruitment processes and EVP initiatives into practice.
  • Drive culture-building and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Provide coaching and development support for leaders.
  • Work closely with the ELT to shape people strategy and support overall business growth.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Proven experience as an HR Manager or People & Culture Manager in smaller organisations or SME settings with roughly 100 to 300 employees.
  • Background in industries such as environmental services, agriculture, horticulture, engineering, or other project-based businesses.
  • Strong greenfield or startup experience, with evidence of building HR functions and processes from the beginning.
  • A practical, sleeves-rolled-up approach and comfort working directly at the operational level of the business.
  • Prior involvement in HRIS implementation and broader HR process or systems improvement projects.
  • Experience partnering with an ELT or SLT and advising a Founder or Business Owner.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to join a small but rapidly growing purpose-led business.
  • Work with a team that is deeply committed to the environment, clean energy, and the natural world.
  • A chance to make a meaningful impact by building a function and leaving a lasting legacy.
  • Base salary of AUD 140,000 to AUD 160,000 plus superannuation.
  • Full-time role with Sydney-based remote working flexibility.
