About the Role
Join Wellways Australia's Community Living Support program in Coffs Harbour as a Peer Recovery Worker. This role leverages your personal lived experience with mental health challenges and recovery to offer hope, build meaningful connections, and empower individuals to attain their personal goals. You will provide tailored, practical support to enhance independence, develop life skills, and foster community engagement, while supporting sustainable wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize lived experience to engage, empower, and assist individuals on their recovery journeys.
- Deliver person-centered, strengths-based practical support aligned with individual goals.
- Lead peer learning initiatives to promote hope, recovery, and self-determination.
- Collaborate closely with participants, families, community groups, and partner organizations.
- Maintain precise participant records, recovery plans, and relevant program documentation.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is dedicated to supporting those facing mental health challenges with a focus on person-led, recovery-oriented practices. You will be empathetic, passionate, and collaborative, with a commitment to delivering individualized support and community connection.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completion, or active enrollment in, Certificate 4 in Mental Health, Peer Work, or Community Services.
- Possession of 100 points identification and proof of work eligibility in Australia.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Clear National Police Check, International Police Check (if applicable), Working with Children Check, and NDIS Workers Screening Check.
- Completion of NDIS Workers Orientation Modules (available online).
Salary and Benefits
- Compensation aligned with SCHADS Level 3: between $40.49 and $43.42 per hour.
- Opportunity for salary packaging, including benefits for meals and entertainment up to $2,650 annually, and overall salary packaging up to $15,899 pre-tax.
- Leave benefits including 17.5% leave loading and paid parental leave after 12 months of continuous employment.
