Role Overview

The Payroll Specialist is accountable for managing the monthly payroll process for a large number of employees, ensuring punctual and accurate salary disbursements. This role requires detailed calculation of payroll considering attendance, overtime, shift allowances, bonuses, leave records, and other relevant data, while maintaining impeccable payroll and employee records within the HR management system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute monthly payroll processing for thousands of employees with high accuracy and timeliness.
  • Compute payroll data factoring in attendance, overtime hours, shift differentials, bonuses, leaves, and other relevant parameters.
  • Maintain and update comprehensive payroll records and employee information in the HR system.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and address any discrepancies to ensure correctness.
  • Handle statutory deductions and submissions including PAYE, SSNIT, and contributions towards Tier 2 and Tier 3 pension schemes.
  • Generate payroll reports and provide analytical support for labor cost budgeting.
  • Respond to employee queries pertaining to payroll, taxation, and statutory benefits.
  • Perform additional payroll and HR-related tasks as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

  • Possess a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or related disciplines.
  • At least one year of experience handling payroll processes, preferably within a manufacturing setting or managing payroll for a large employee base.
  • Experience or understanding of shift-based and piece-rate payroll methods is advantageous.
  • Solid knowledge of Ghana Labour Law and compliance with payroll statutory requirements.
  • Familiar with payroll statutory deductions and administration of PAYE, SSNIT, Tier 2, and Tier 3 pension contributions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and skilled in analyzing payroll data.
  • Detail-oriented with high integrity, strong communication ability, and effective problem-solving skills.
