About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Pastoral Lead for our specialist alternative provision in Mansfield, focusing on supporting young people aged 7 to 19 who face complex learning barriers, SEND conditions, or mental health issues. This permanent, term-time-only position offers full-time hours (40 hours per week), allowing you to enjoy evenings and school holidays. Salary ranges from 327,463 to 329,982 annually (315.37 to 316.78 hourly), depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily pastoral care and emotional support tailored to students' mental wellbeing.
- Conduct structured one-on-one interventions and support tutorials, encouraging student autonomy through initiatives like student councils.
- Lead efforts in conflict resolution, restorative mediation, and conducting student debriefs.
- Collaborate effectively with families, caregivers, and social care agencies to create a cohesive support network.
- Monitor pastoral data to identify trends, assess progress, and guide personalized student support plans.
Candidate Profile
- Calm, reflective, and resilient practitioner capable of empathetically maintaining professional boundaries.
- Holds a Level 3 qualification or higher relevant to youth work, social care, counselling, or education, plus Level 2 English and Maths.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in pastoral care, youth work, or wellbeing-focused roles.
- Expertise in SEND and mental health support, particularly for Autism Spectrum Conditions and complex vulnerabilities.
- Exceptional skills in de-escalating challenging situations calmly using positive, non-punitive approaches.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding practices within educational settings.
- Experience in Alternative Provision or specialist schools is advantageous, though related sector experience with the right values is welcomed.
