Overview
Join the Perioperative Services team at Murrumbidgee Local Health District, located in Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, and contribute to delivering safe and quality patient care within the operating theatre. The Operating Room Assistant supports efficient and timely theatre operations while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. This temporary position runs until 15 August 2027 with options for full-time, part-time, or casual employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport patients safely within the hospital.
- Prepare operating theatres in accordance with scheduled procedures.
- Assist in patient preparation and positioning prior to surgery.
- Maintain cleanliness of the operating suite following established guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to theatre apparel standards based on ACORN guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively as part of the perioperative multidisciplinary team.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact across all organizational levels.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work cooperatively.
- Adaptability to rotating rosters and varying shift hours.
- Strong ability to follow instructions, demonstrate proactivity, and apply problem-solving capabilities.
- Uphold patient privacy, confidentiality, and professional conduct standards.
Terms and Conditions
- Position classification: Operations Assistant.
- Remuneration ranges from $64,514 to $66,198 annually, plus superannuation and 17.5% leave loading where applicable.
- Work hours up to 38 hours per week.
- This is a NSW Health Category A role requiring immunisation and disease screening, including submission of the OASV Declaration Form and TB assessment tool during recruitment.
