Position Overview
The role is part of the Innovation team, initially offered as a part-time contract with the possibility of becoming full-time as the company’s requirements evolve. The Nutrition Scientist will contribute to evaluating ingredients, driving claims innovation, conducting scientific research, and supporting innovation-related projects across Double Wood’s product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess emerging dietary ingredients, new technologies, and scientific literature to identify innovation opportunities.
- Conduct thorough literature reviews to determine ingredient efficacy, safety, mode of action, and market differentiation.
- Analyze supplier technical data, clinical studies, and scientific proofs to evaluate ingredient viability.
- Keep abreast of scientific, ingredient, and competitive trends, delivering concise insights to the Innovation team.
- Facilitate claims innovation by evaluating and synthesizing scientific evidence to create unique product positioning.
- Research new scientific developments for potential consumer benefits and product differentiation.
- Create scientific summaries and documentation supporting innovation projects.
- Maintain internal scientific knowledge bases, claims references, and ingredient dossiers.
- Support various innovation initiatives through scientific research, ingredient evaluation, and evidence reviews.
- Participate in formulation discussions by providing scientific insights and evidence-based recommendations.
- Develop and manage reusable scientific resources and tools to improve innovation efficiency and quality.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nutritional Sciences, Food Science, Clinical Nutrition, or a related scientific field.
- Between 3 to 5 years of industry experience in dietary supplements, consumer health, functional foods, or related sectors.
- Comprehensive understanding of nutrition science, dietary ingredients, and human physiology.
- Proven ability to conduct scientific literature reviews and critically evaluate clinical data.
- Familiarity with various supplement ingredients such as botanicals, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and probiotics.
- Capability to interpret scientific data and translate it into practical product guidelines and consumer-focused claims.
- Excellent analytical thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
- Highly self-directed with strong multitasking abilities in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with innovation projects, ingredient strategy, portfolio management, or claims development in the dietary supplement field.
- Proficiency in reviewing supplier technical documents, ingredient dossiers, and scientific reports.
- Skill in developing scientific libraries, summaries, or evidence repositories.
- Awareness of trending ingredient technologies and innovations in the supplement industry.
