Night Porter

Role Overview

Cabra Castle is looking for full-time night porters to support hotel operations during overnight hours. This position suits someone who is naturally alert, service-oriented, and comfortable working independently through the night.

Key Duties

• Welcome and register guests who arrive late, following the hotel’s standard check-in process and internal policies.
• Handle the switchboard in a polite, professional, and helpful way.
• Take messages for guests and management and pass them on quickly and accurately.
• Offer room sales during the night to suitable clients in line with hotel procedures.
• Serve light food and beverages to residents and their guests, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly.
• Track all cash and charges carefully and hand over the full record to the duty receptionist in the morning.
• Carry out security checks at regular intervals throughout the night to help protect guests, staff, and hotel property.
• Make sure all external doors and windows are secured and alarmed.
• Pay particular attention to fire safety during patrols.
• Prepare and set up function areas for business scheduled for the following day.

Candidate Requirements

• Applicants must be 25 years of age or older.
• A full, clean driving licence is required.
• You should be able to commute reliably to the workplace.
• Permission to live and work in Ireland is essential.
• Strong spoken and written English is required.
• Previous bar experience is preferred, though it is not mandatory because training will be provided.
• A strong customer service mindset is important.
• You must be able to work independently as well as cooperate effectively with a team.
