The news landscape is crowded with sensationalism, and this team is working to make news clearer, more direct, and easier to trust. The New Paper’s mission is to help people quickly understand the day’s most important stories by focusing on facts, context, and primary sources rather than hype.

As a news writer, you’ll be expected to consume a large volume of news each morning, dig into the facts, and keep asking questions until the full picture is clear. The role is centered on producing a daily digest that highlights the most impactful stories, explains what happened in a factual way, and gives readers convenient access to relevant background or source material.

Role Responsibilities

• Research, curate, and write the daily briefing so readers can quickly catch up on the most important news in an objective, factual format.
• Contribute to the development of new editorial products and content formats, including longer-form pieces and audio.
• Work closely with the business development team on marketing initiatives and creative campaign ideas.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of prior experience in news writing is preferred.
• Strong ability to write in a clear, concise, and impartial style.
• Sound editorial judgment and a strong sense of what matters to readers.
• Capability to deliver accurate, polished work under tight publishing timelines.
• Genuine interest in the company’s mission and a commitment to fact-based, straightforward journalism.
