Role Overview
As a Merchandising Assistant at ASOS, you will begin your journey in fashion retail, supporting the Merchandising team to ensure optimal product availability and presentation. This hands-on, fast-paced role involves managing large amounts of data, utilizing multiple systems, and contributing to sales and product strategies. Key facets include maintaining accurate product and stock information, coordinating purchase orders, monitoring inventory, preparing reports, and aiding promotional initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update product and stock data accurately across relevant systems and spreadsheets.
- Raise purchase orders and communicate with suppliers to track deliveries.
- Monitor inventory levels, highlight potential issues such as shortages or delays.
- Prepare reports and presentations, including sales summaries and stock status, for internal meetings.
- Support promotional and markdown activities by updating systems and verifying information accuracy.
- Handle administrative duties including filing, scheduling, and meeting preparations.
- Work closely with Buyers and Merchandising staff to ensure smooth product flow.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the team culture.
Work Environment

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a collaborative and motivated individual with a passion for fashion and alignment with ASOS’s core values: Authenticity, Bravery, Creativity, and Deliverance. Prior administrative experience or exposure to retail or fashion operations through work, internships, or education is preferred. Candidates with familiarity in stock, pricing, or order management systems, strong analytical capabilities, and commercial awareness will have an advantage.
Required Skills and Attributes
- Proficiency in managing large data sets with accuracy.
- Comfortable using Excel and other digital tools including filtering, sorting, and formulas.
- Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
- Adaptability and rapid learning to handle new systems and shifting priorities.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with internal teams and external suppliers.
Recruitment Process
The hiring process begins with an online application, followed by an ASOS Values Situational Judgement Test designed to assess approach to real-life scenarios aligned with company values. Successful candidates will then partake in an immersive merchandising assessment focusing on numerical and practical merchandising tasks. The final phase includes an in-person assessment at ASOS's Camden office to meet the team and demonstrate capabilities.
