Position Overview
The Marketing Coordinator is integral to managing the Museum's daily marketing activities, focusing especially on social media management, media engagement, and promoting events. This role supports the Museum's mission by enhancing its visibility, fostering audience engagement, and boosting awareness of the Museum's programs, exhibitions, and fundraising efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and execute daily social media content creation, scheduling posts, and interacting with audiences on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
- Design and apply strategies to grow social media followers, increase engagement, and drive website traffic.
- Monitor social media analytics, evaluate campaign performance, and produce reports detailing success metrics.
- Act as the main media liaison, managing inquiries and maintaining relationships with local to national press outlets.
- Write press releases, coordinate media outreach, and organize interviews and media engagements for Museum leadership.
- Track and report on media coverage to assess outreach effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the Learning and Engagement team to plan and publicize events, programs, and exhibitions.
- Contribute to marketing campaigns including email newsletters, print collateral, and digital advertisements.
- Work closely with the Development department to promote fundraising and member engagement campaigns.
- Assist in content creation and oversight for the Museum’s website, newsletters, and other marketing assets, ensuring brand consistency across all digital and print mediums.
- Coordinate with design and content teams to produce promotional flyers, event signage, and other marketing materials.
- Maintain the marketing calendar, managing deadlines and ensuring timely execution of marketing initiatives.
- Manage coordination with external vendors and contractors concerning marketing materials and media placements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule
This position may require occasional work during evenings and weekends.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related discipline.
- Experience of 2-3 years managing social media, public relations, and digital marketing.
- Proficiency with social media platforms, website content management tools like Wordpress, email marketing software (e.g., MailChimp, Constant Contact), and graphic design applications such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, or Canva.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including editing abilities.
- Experience producing and editing both short and long video content.
- Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively within a dynamic work environment.
Salary and Benefits
The expected hourly pay rate ranges from $19 to $26. Compensation varies based on individual qualifications, experience, and organizational criteria.
