Volunteer Role Overview

This position involves promoting the visibility and expansion of Serve the City’s Brisbane and Gold Coast branches by ensuring consistent, clear, and aligned messaging across communication channels. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will play a central role in managing content and social media platforms, helping the organisation maintain a professional and regular presence. This opportunity allows volunteers to directly influence how the organisation communicates its impact while enhancing community involvement.

Key Duties

• Plan and maintain a consistent schedule for social media content.
• Assist with straightforward marketing campaigns related to events and community news.
• Support development of content across all of Serve the City’s social platforms.
• Create engaging content to boost interaction and coordinate community events with impact.
• Utilize digital marketing and communication tools proficiently.
• Operate effectively both independently and as part of a hybrid work team.
• Occasionally attend community projects, volunteer events, and team meetings in Brisbane or Gold Coast based on availability and interest.
• Help tell stories about acts of kindness and community engagement to motivate others to volunteer or support the cause.

Preferred Skills and Qualities

• Experience or familiarity with digital tools such as Canva, LinkedIn, and Meta platforms.
• A passion for work driven by purpose and a desire to make a community impact.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work proactively without constant supervision.
• Comfortable operating in a dynamic, evolving, and lean organisational environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to see initiatives through to completion.

Additional Information

• The role is primarily remote with flexibility in hours.
• Volunteers are encouraged to participate in-person occasionally as interest and availability permit.
