About the Role
This opportunity is based at Arthurs Point, Queenstown, within the scenic Southern Lakes area. The role is permanent, full-time (40 hours per week), focusing on maintaining and servicing the fleet of eight high-performance twin-engine jet boats used in an iconic adventure tourism operation. Primary Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, servicing, and intricate repairs on jet boats ensuring adherence to maritime and safety standards.
- Identify and resolve faults in marine combustion engines, along with vehicle and plant machinery repairs.
- Utilize machining tools such as lathes and mills to fabricate and refurbish precision components.
- Interpret and apply information from technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- Carry out daily inspections and certify the vessels are fit for operation.
- Follow detailed technical instructions, maintenance schedules, and service bulletins meticulously.
- Contribute to developing better systems and processes aimed at reliability improvement and reducing operational expenses.
- Commit to sustainability efforts aligning with the organization's carbon zero goal by 2040.
Candidate Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in maintenance or mechanical technician roles.
- Preferred trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced diagnostic and repair skills for combustion engines and fuel injection technologies.
- Competent in machining, welding (MIG/TIG), and fabrication using metals including aluminium and stainless steel.
- Knowledgeable in troubleshooting 12V electrical systems.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) usage.
- Understanding of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) is advantageous.
- Strong dedication to health and safety protocols.
- Willingness to work over weekends and public holidays as required.
- Energetic and positive mindset coupled with effective teamwork and communication abilities.
