Overview
The Maintenance Supervisor role at PepsiCo's Carrigaline plant in Cork involves overseeing the execution of preventive and predictive maintenance activities. This position focuses on resolving technical challenges on the production floor, fostering continual improvement, and guaranteeing that maintenance tasks are planned and completed safely according to standards. Supporting production uptime, asset management, audit preparedness, and maintenance excellence are key to the role.
This role reports directly to the Site Maintenance Lead and collaborates closely with teams in Automation, Safety, Quality, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily maintenance operations to ensure safe, timely, and effective completion of corrective, preventive, and predictive work.
- Manage work orders by planning, scheduling, and releasing them through SAP, ensuring high compliance and readiness.
- Provide real-time troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical, and control system issues to support production.
- Conduct root cause analyses for downtime events and develop strategies to reduce occurrences.
- Accurately document maintenance activities, labor, and failure codes within SAP.
- Supervise and mentor a team of Maintenance Technicians, cultivating a culture of reliability, accountability, and continuous enhancement.
- Lead daily tier meetings to communicate priorities and balance team workloads with site demands.
- Facilitate training, competency assessments, and performance evaluations for team members.
- Champion safety initiatives, enforcing compliance with LOTO, Permit-to-Work, risk assessments, and contractor protocols.
- Ensure adherence to FDA, OSHA/EHS, PGCS, and internal safety policies.
- Keep maintenance areas organized and prepared for audits, supporting plant inspections such as AIBI, HSA, FM Global, and internal GEHSMS.
- Identify and implement improvements in equipment reliability, maintenance practices, and asset care.
- Leverage best practices from PepsiCo's global operations and assist with new equipment introduction and its integration into maintenance systems.
Qualifications
- Technical education in Engineering or Maintenance disciplines preferred; an Engineering degree is ideal.
- Between 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in maintenance supervision or senior engineering roles.
- Proficient in CMMS applications, especially SAP.
- Solid practical knowledge of troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Strong leadership and communication capabilities.
- Able to operate efficiently in fast-moving, demanding work environments.
- Excellent organizational skills to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
- Proven commitment to safety leadership.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Background in process-intensive or highly automated manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA, and automation technologies; deeper knowledge considered advantageous.
- Understanding of TPM, predictive maintenance, and reliability engineering methodologies.
- Experience overseeing contractors and managing vendor relationships.
