Join Our Team at Wickmeads Residential Care Home
We are looking to recruit a Maintenance Operative/Handyperson to join our dedicated team at Wickmeads, situated in Tuckton, Bournemouth. This full-time role involves ensuring that the care home environment remains safe, comfortable, and fully functional for our elderly residents.
Role Overview
The Maintenance Operative is responsible for carrying out a diverse range of maintenance, repair, and safety checks across the building and equipment. This includes planned and reactive maintenance in areas such as plumbing, heating, electrical systems, decorating, fire safety testing, care equipment upkeep, and carpentry. Occasionally, you may be asked to provide maintenance support at other Care South homes nearby.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a regulated environment such as a care home and be capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Confidence in managing time effectively and flexibility to handle emergency call-outs during evenings or weekends is essential. You should demonstrate a proactive attitude towards completing repairs safely and to high standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- Basic Electrical Safety certification
- Plumbing knowledge and understanding of Legionella control
- Experience with heating, electrical, and fire safety systems
- Relevant qualifications in heating and/or plumbing
- Strong general repair and maintenance expertise across various trades

Additional Information
- Annual salary up to £30,000
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old
