Mainframe Developer - CICS

Role overview

This position is for a mainframe developer with strong CICS expertise, based in Chennai. The role focuses on building, supporting, and improving mainframe applications using COBOL and related technologies.

Core responsibilities

• Work on COBOL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM programs with substantial hands-on experience.
• Study business and system needs, then develop COBOL solutions that support those requirements and improve workflows.
• Keep mainframe systems aligned with industry practices and technical standards to protect stability and reliability.
• Track system behavior, investigate issues, and resolve them quickly to reduce downtime and keep productivity high.
• Partner with teams across functions to connect DB2 databases in a way that improves access to data and strengthens security.
• Create and run test plans to confirm functionality and support smooth integration.
• Look for opportunities to streamline processes, improve scalability, and lower operating costs.
• Contribute ideas for better mainframe capability through newer tools, methods, and approaches.

Required skills and knowledge

• Mandatory experience with COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, and VSAM.
• Good analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Experience in COBOL-DB2-CICS-VSAM program work.
• Familiarity with Git, IDz, and Windsurf will be an added advantage.

Salary information

Compensation is listed as INR 8,50,000 to INR 13,00,000 per year.
