Job description
Overview
Element Materials Technology is seeking a Machinist to enhance its growing operations team. This role involves executing a range of both routine and specialized machining tasks to ensure timely, precise test results under supervision. The position requires adherence to safety standards, company policies, and ethical conduct.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate cutting machinery to prepare specimens according to customer-defined specifications.
- Plan, set up, and execute diverse machining operations tailored to customer requirements.
- Work with minimal supervision, guided by a Department Manager or Senior staff as needed.
- Provide mentorship and training to less experienced machinists, effectively communicating machining processes and technical information.
- Transfer technical machining knowledge to meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Maintain equipment and oversee scheduled preventative maintenance activities.
- Collect and record dimensional data according to quality assurance protocols.
Qualifications and Skills
- Familiarity with laboratory safety procedures.
- Minimum educational requirement: High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or vocational coursework is preferred.
- 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience in a machining shop or an associate degree in a related science or mechanical field.
- In-depth knowledge of specimen preparation and machining principles.
- Understanding of measuring instruments and dimensional analysis.
- Proficient with machining safety regulations and computer skills.
- Basic knowledge of algebra and geometry is advantageous.
Physical Requirements
- Moderate physical exertion frequently required.
- Regular lifting of items under 50 pounds, occasional lifting over 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
- Periodic lifting of weights exceeding 50 pounds.
