Role Overview
The Logistics Coordinator will oversee international and domestic logistics. This includes managing import/export shipments, ensuring compliance with regulations, working with logistics providers, and assisting teams to deliver products promptly and cost-effectively. This position reports directly to the Lead-International Logistics.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage international exports from India to the U.S. and other countries.
- Support domestic transport within India and oversee import logistics.
- Prepare and maintain all critical import/export documentation such as Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, and others per regulatory standards.
- Arrange transportation bookings with couriers, freight forwarders, airlines, sea shippers, and road transport services.
- Track shipments closely and address any delays or issues to ensure timely deliveries.
- Collaborate with customs house agents to facilitate smooth clearance and regulatory adherence.
- Handle escalations related to shipping delays or customs, communicating effectively with stakeholders.
- Accurately maintain import/export records for audits and compliance.
- Provide freight quotes, tariff and route planning, and transit time evaluations to support costing and operations.
- Work with warehouses and third-party logistics to coordinate receiving, storage, packaging, and dispatch.
- Analyze delivery performance metrics and propose improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Verify freight bills and assist in cost monitoring.
- Build and maintain relationships with logistics partners, vendors, and customs brokers.
- Coordinate logistics schedules with manufacturing partners and suppliers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with project management, quality assurance, costing, and finance teams to smooth operations.
- Assist with pre- and post-shipment documentation, invoice validation, and audit preparations.
- Utilize ERP systems and logistics software to monitor shipments and operational workflows.
- Identify and recommend improvements for cost, process, and operational efficiencies.
- Guide junior logistics staff when necessary.
Candidate Profile
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years in international logistics, freight handling, or supply chain coordination.
- Deep knowledge of Indian import/export rules, customs processes, and documentation requirements.
- Experience managing both air and sea freight shipments.
- Proficient with HS code classification, duty calculations, export incentive programs, country of origin laws, and free trade agreements.
- Skilled in liaising with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transportation vendors.
- Managing multiple shipments simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experienced with ERP systems and proficient in MS Office, especially Excel.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Independent worker who excels at team collaboration.
- Knowledge of customs compliance is a plus.
