Overview
The Livelihood Officer - Mobilization is responsible for engaging youth and adults within selected communities in Coimbatore, facilitating their participation in livelihood programmes through career counselling, needs assessments, and onboarding them onto a technological platform to support their employment journey.
Key Duties
- Organize and implement mobilization campaigns across 4 to 5 clusters in Coimbatore, aiming to mobilize around 750 individuals throughout the project duration.
- Partner with Community Resource Persons to enhance community outreach efforts.
- Conduct detailed household visits to assess participants’ aspirations, skills, and training needs.
- Complete registration and onboarding of eligible candidates onto the technology platform with thorough documentation and validation.
- Provide continuous career counselling and motivate participants towards skilling, education, and employment opportunities.
- Engage participants to maximize enrolment, completion, placement, and retention rates, while addressing any risks of dropouts.
- Foster strong relationships with youth, families, educational institutions, local governance bodies, and community leaders.
- Ensure adherence to programme guidelines and selection protocols during mobilisation activities.
- Maintain precise records, data management, reports, and MIS updates.
- Collaborate with district and regional teams to enhance programme effectiveness.
- Serve as a professional representative and role model for the organization and its participants.
Required Skills & Attributes
- Excellent communication skills in both Tamil and English.
- Strong interpersonal, counselling, and relationship-building capabilities.
- Ability to inspire and engage diverse groups including youth and adults.
- Effective planning, coordination, and time management skills.
- Problem-solving aptitude and sound decision-making skills.
- Competent working autonomously and as part of a team.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office, internet use, and online platforms.
- Willingness to travel frequently within Coimbatore district and work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed.
Eligibility & Experience
- Holds at least an undergraduate degree; preference for candidates with an MSW.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in community mobilisation, youth development, livelihoood programs, skilling, or vocational training.
- Desired experience includes career counselling, community engagement, and stakeholder coordination.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications, especially MS Office and online platforms.
- Previous exposure working within NGOs or community-based organizations, engaging with schools, colleges, panchayats, parents, and local leaders is advantageous.
Compensation & Location
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position is located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, with full-time onsite work requirements.
