Job Responsibilities
- Thoroughly interpret project contracts, blueprints, and standards to guarantee precise surveying aligned with design criteria.
- Set up, validate, and sustain key horizontal and vertical control markers on-site including benchmarks and traverse systems.
- Collaborate with contractors' surveyors to authenticate site benchmarks, layouts, and control data before starting construction.
- Audit all setting-out tasks such as alignments, elevation levels, and coordinates for roads, underground and aboveground utilities, structures, ensuring conformity with approved designs.
- Oversee excavation, backfill, and compaction processes to confirm adherence to project grades and tolerance limits.
- Inspect installation accuracy of utilities, chambers, and ducts with respect to approved survey information, verifying correct coverage and alignment.
- Conduct detailed topographic and as-built surveys, ensuring data accuracy and submission of final drawings for approval.
- Maintain and calibrate survey tools according to project quality standards.
- Support Resident and Assistant Resident Engineers by reviewing contractor surveys, spotting inconsistencies, and issuing necessary site directives.
- Document survey findings, compile reports, and maintain field records for all verification activities.
- Ensure compliance with approved procedures and safety protocols during surveying by the contractor’s team.
- Carry out joint surveys with contractors and clients for payment verification and project handover purposes.
- Confirm all infrastructure elements are accurately positioned before covering or filling operations.
- Address and resolve site survey issues, including coordination between multiple contractors or packages.
- Immediately notify project engineers of any discrepancies or errors in contractor setting-outs.
- Monitor health, safety, and environmental practices on-site and report unsafe behaviors promptly.
