Role overview
This position is for a hands-on laborer supporting grounds and landscape upkeep in Stuttgart, Germany. The work involves operating mowing equipment and carrying out detailed outdoor maintenance tasks that demand physical stamina, careful control of equipment, and attention to the surrounding environment.
Key duties
- Run large riding mowers, including complex models with multiple independently controlled cutting decks, to maintain areas where space and site conditions require extra caution.
- Use specialized riding mowing equipment that may have single-function operation and parts controlled by hydraulic and mechanical systems.
- Perform labor-intensive assignments that require strong manual dexterity, heavy physical exertion, and work completed in multiple stages.
- Carry out precise landscape preparation work, such as getting ground ready for sod, flowers, and shrubs, while following drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
Employment conditions
- Direct deposit enrollment and a Social Security card are mandatory.

- A probationary period of one year may apply.
- The selected candidate must be able to obtain and keep both a valid USAREUR driver's license and a TMP license.
- Work may include rotating shifts, evenings, weekends, and MWR special events.
Qualifications

- Experience operating mowers and similar equipment in environments that require constant awareness of obstacles and tight working space, such as trees, trenches, potholes, slopes, curbs, rocks, and other visible hazards.
- Ability to handle equipment controls and levers to maneuver machines and attach, adjust, lift, lower, engage, or disengage accessories and components.
- Ability to read and follow instructions, specifications, and related guidance.
- Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment properly.

Area of consideration
This vacancy is limited to the local commuting area within 100 km (60 miles) of Stuttgart, Germany. Candidates with Spouse Employment Preference (SEP), Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP), and Family Member Preference (FMP) are included in this area of consideration.

Allowances and differentials
This role is covered by the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS). Overtime is paid for work beyond 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week, whichever benefits the employee more. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for Sunday work. Extra pay may also apply when most scheduled hours fall after 3:00 PM.

Application validity

Eligibility for overseas employment
U.S. citizens overseas who are ordinarily resident are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement. In NATO countries, non-U.S. citizens can only be employed under U.S. conditions if they are nationals of a NATO country, and they cannot be employed under U.S. employment conditions in the country of their citizenship.
