About the Role
We are seeking a proactive Junior IT Administrator to join our team, supporting daily IT operations across our Berlin and Amsterdam offices. The position is primarily onsite in Berlin, with responsibilities to remotely assist the Amsterdam location. This opportunity provides comprehensive exposure to diverse IT areas, including end-user assistance, device and network management, and security patching, all under mentorship from seasoned professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage internal IT systems lifecycle such as workstations, peripherals, and shared resources.
- Assist with directory services like LDAP and manage user accounts.
- Handle software installations, IT asset tracking, and inventory maintenance for both offices.
- Provide first-level support for hardware and software issues locally in Berlin and remotely for Amsterdam employees.
- Support datacenter operations including monitoring servers, storage, and cabling infrastructure.
- Assist with hardware replacements, rack upkeep, and document datacenter configurations and changes.
- Help plan and execute operating system upgrades for Windows and macOS devices, managing device images and upgrade procedures.
- Ensure devices comply with security standards and facilitate remote device shipping and support for Amsterdam staff.
- Monitor wired and wireless networks, handle Wi-Fi administration, and address connectivity and coverage problems.
- Support daily Mobile Device Management (MDM) activities such as device enrollment, policy enforcement, application deployment, and offboarding.
- Assist in patch management, security monitoring, incident escalation, and enforcement of endpoint security policies.
- Maintain detailed documentation of patch statuses and system security reports.
Required Qualifications
- One to two years experience in IT support, helpdesk, or junior systems administration (including internships or apprenticeships).
- Fundamental knowledge of Windows and/or macOS administration.
- Basic Linux familiarity including command line navigation, file permissions, and typical administrative tasks.
- Understanding of networking concepts such as DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and Wi-Fi technologies.
- Strong desire to learn and develop skills in a fast-moving technical setting.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, methodical approach, composure under pressure, and readiness to investigate technical issues.
- Effective communication skills with patience in assisting non-technical users.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of German is advantageous.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Mobile Device Management tools like Jamf or Microsoft Intune.
- Basic scripting skills in Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
- Familiarity with monitoring solutions such as Zabbix or Grafana.
- Relevant certifications or academic courses like CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft fundamentals.
