Description de l'emploi
About the role
This role sits in the Infrastructure and Assets Group, which works across planning and maintenance to deliver resilient infrastructure and services that improve everyday life and support a strong future for the community.
Reporting to the Customer Experience Team Lead, you will join a small, community-centred team focused on creating positive outcomes for infrastructure activity in Kirikiriroa. Your main responsibility will be supporting planned transport maintenance and renewal work through Connect Hamilton, a collaboration between Hamilton City Council and Downer.
The purpose of the position is to help the Council care for existing transport assets while reducing disruption for residents, businesses, and other stakeholders. You will be the main connection point between Connect Hamilton and the community, making sure communication flows clearly before, during, and after works take place. By developing trusted relationships and collecting feedback, you will help improve how projects are delivered and how concerns are managed.
This is a visible, people-oriented position that involves spending substantial time in the community, meeting stakeholders directly and representing the Council’s commitment to being a community-focused organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with planning maintenance and renewal programmes by identifying risks and opportunities that help reduce disruption during physical works.
- Support the Communications & Engagement Team with stakeholder analysis for high-impact maintenance and renewal activities.
- Coordinate local stakeholder and community communications, including door-to-door visits and letter drops, so people know what work is coming up.
- Raise stakeholder issues with project teams before, during, and after physical works so they can be addressed appropriately.
- Own complaints related to maintenance and renewal work, drawing on subject matter experts when needed.
- Support the wider Customer Experience Team in responding to enquiries about planned maintenance and renewal activities.
- Spot and implement improvements that create value for both internal and external stakeholders.
Skills and experience
- Tertiary study or relevant experience in stakeholder engagement, community engagement, customer service, or communications.
- Prior exposure to infrastructure maintenance and renewal work.
- Strong computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Office applications.
- A community-first mindset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well with a broad mix of internal and external stakeholders.
- Initiative, adaptability, and a proactive approach.
- Good planning, prioritisation, and organisation ability.
- Careful attention to detail and the ability to stay composed under pressure.
- Commitment to continuous improvement.
Salary and benefits
The salary is approximately $85,000, depending on skills and experience.
- Flexible-by-choice working policy that has won awards.
- Opportunities for professional growth and development.
- Two wellbeing days each year.
- Free Unimed health insurance, including hospital/surgery cover, plus discounted family membership rates.
- Free annual health checks and flu vaccinations.
- Option to buy extra annual leave.
- Reimbursement for eye tests and glasses costs.
- Discounted access to local businesses, including gyms, cafes, dentists, hairdressers, and more.
Application process
Applications close on 22 July 2026. Shortlisting may begin as applications are received.
